Several compounds featuring the [(Me3tacn)8Mo 8Pd6(CN)24]12+ cluster are presented in Chapter 3. Containing exclusively 4d transition metal ions, cluster decomposition is less evident than it is in the compounds of Chapter 2. This has enabled the identification of [(Me3tacn) 8Mo8Pd6(CN)24][Pd(CN)4] 3(SO4)3 E39H2O, which exhibits a linear chain of face-centered cubic clusters and tetracyanopalladate anions.... the antiferromagnetically-coupled cluster possesses an S = 13/2 ground state that is not well-isolated in energy. ...
