Procedure: Conducting a modeled writing session clearly demonstrates to your students the power and function of writing. Students who may question why anyone would want to write begin to see a purpose when they are able to see how the teacher chooses topics and composes short pieces of writing. Teachers may choose to share their own personal writing portfolio in order to show their students the processes they have gone through in order to complete a story or poem.
