A new edition of Joint Replacement Arthroplasty (1991), revised to address the broader spectrum of joint reconstruction, as evidenced by the 50% increase in the number of chapters (to 131) resulting from the inclusion of all reconstructive options and not just joint replacement. Similar to the first edition, however, the contributions (except for the basic science material) are those of the consulting staff of the Mayo Clinic and Mayo Foundation. The format and outline are also similar, dealing first with the basic science issues pertaining to the specific anatomic part, and then presenting an analysis of the indications, techniques, and results of intervention. The emphasis remains on ready access to the specific questions that face clinicians on a daily basis.
