This volume contains a selection of papers presented at the First International Conference on the Practice and Theory of Automated Timetabling, held in Edinburgh in August/September 1995. It contains four survey papers together with 19 revised full papers. The papers are organized in sections on reasoning about constraints, genetic algorithms, complexity issues, and tabu search and annealing.In addition, this book discusses how the same pathways are used by many other cytokines and thus provide a forum for cross-talk among these important biological response modifiers.
