This conference, the sixth of a planned series of annual meetings with a highly selective and a highly competitive technical program, hasbeenestablishedto serveasthepremier forumto coverresearchon all aspects of networking and communication issues. The conference is intended to involve multiple networking paradigms such as wireless and wired networks, ad-hoc networks, sensor networks, mesh networks, and optical networks. An exciting and high-quality technical program was put together by Eylem Ekici, JaudeliceC.deOliveiraandJaniseMcNairwiththehelpofanexceptional panelofexpertswho servedonthe TechnicalProgramCommittee.We werevery fortunate to have Eylem, Jau and Janice as the Program Chairs to launch the IFIP Networking2007conference ona path of academicexcellence and practical relevance; we express our sincere thanks to them. Together, they put together a high-quality program that educated attendees and at the same time inspired spirited discussions.
