In the fire service it has been customary to group these functions under such general headings as aquot;rescue, forcible entry, ventilation ... units such as ladder companies, rescue squads, elevating platforms, salvage units, air compressors and others, to meet the local needs. ... City would be considered fully suitable in Los Angeles, or that Los Angeles apparatus would meet the needs for the City of Chicago.
