An ultrasonic distance measuring sensor with radio frequency synchronization was developed and tested. It had a measurement range of about 4.5 m. The main application of this project is to measure the distance between the x-ray emitter and a spot on the patient in a surgery setup. The project involves developing a transmitter and receiver circuit for RF signal and combining it with ultrasonic distance measuring system. A micro controller is programmed to calculate the distance. The outcome of the sensor system is better precision and longer distance measuring capability.
