These review papers from the 1989 Space Telescope Science Institute Symposium on Clusters of Galaxies give summaries of our current understanding of the formation and evolution of clusters and their constituent galaxies. It gives a timely focus for future observational and theoretical work on clusters of galaxies.This means (A) Maps to 0.1 La#39; (~ 20th magnitude at 20, 000 km/s) to R ~ 1.5a2 Mpc. (and Types to 0.3 L*??) (B) 200+ ... had to await the great renaissance in the measurement of galaxy distances and redshifts that took place in the late 1970a#39;s.
