Since a bicycle has many small parts, do all your repair work on a flat, hard surface, such as a table, a bench, a floor, ... Clean each part as you take it down, in kerosene, and wipe it dry. ... Do not unscrew the bolt fully so the plug slides off. If the plug does slide off, turn the bicycle upside down. Conditioning Before replacing the stem in the fork make sure there are no particles of rust and grit inside the fork.
